Product Details
SS-31 (Elamipretide / Bendavia) is a synthetic tetrapeptide that selectively concentrates in the inner mitochondrial membrane via cardiolipin binding. It is the reference mitochondria-targeting peptide.
Mechanism of Action. SS-31 binds cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane, stabilizes electron-transport-chain supercomplexes, and reduces reactive-oxygen-species leakage. This preserves mitochondrial membrane potential and oxidative phosphorylation efficiency.
Applications. Mitochondrial-targeting peptide research, cardiolipin biology, ischemia-reperfusion modeling, comparative mitochondria-protective compound studies.
